Sport4Ever – Finally, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, the star who recently transferred to the Red Castle, broke his silence to make resounding statements in his first media appearance on the “Fayek’s Coffee” program with journalist Ibrahim Fayek on MBC Masr 2. This anticipated appearance came just a few hours after his former team, Zamalek, won the Egypt Cup title against Pyramids, with Zizo dropping a bombshell of shocking details that redraw the picture of his departure from the White House to Al Ahly Club, in one of the most prominent “deal of the century” transfers that shook the Egyptian football scene. The episode, which is being broadcast in two parts, started yesterday and continues today, revealing unforeseen behind-the-scenes stories.
Zizo Reveals the Hidden Plan: “What happened to me was planned months ago”
Zizo began his talk by confirming that he had never sought to leave Zamalek Club, and that his decision came after “deep study and profound thought” in light of “changing circumstances within Mit Okba.” But he quickly dropped the bombshell by saying: “What happened to me at Zamalek was planned months ago.” This statement opens the door wide to questions about the nature of the relationship between the player and the club’s management in the recent period.
Zizo affirmed that problems began to appear in his last year and a half with Zamalek, stressing that he never exploited the penalty clause in his contract at all, despite the many opportunities that arose for him. He said clearly: “I am the same person whose contract had a penalty clause, and yet I refused to leave. If my intention had ever been to leave the club, I would have done it a long time ago.” He cited Al Rayyan Club’s offer from years ago, when he refused to activate the penalty clause and insisted on staying.
Rejected Offers and “Social Media” Pressure: “Go out and say you want to leave”
Zizo provided exclusive details about the offers he received and how Zamalek’s management handled them. He revealed an official offer from Saudi Arabia’s Neom Club worth 6.5 million dollars in August 2024, which the Board of Directors initially agreed to. But the shock came with the management’s request: “Go out and say that you want to leave,” justifying this by their fear of the public’s reaction, as “all their decisions are based on social media.” Zizo strongly rejected this request, saying: “I told them I wouldn’t go out and say anything, this is an offer you have, if you want to agree, agree, if not, it’s up to you.”
Zizo also mentioned the incident of a booked medical examination ticket for him in the UAE for an offer from Neom, without his prior knowledge, which surprised and puzzled him about his club’s management. He recounted a situation with the club’s president, Hussein Labib, where he was referred to another board member (Hossam El Mandouh) when he tried to inquire about the offer’s details, only for the latter to completely deny knowing about it.
Electronic Campaigns and Insults to His Father: “Zamalek fans believed the lie”
Zizo bitterly touched upon the smear campaigns that he and his father were subjected to. He confirmed that his father “was insulted for 8 months,” and he refused to respond to the abuse, counting on the awareness of Zamalek fans that they would not believe what was being said. But he added: “But everyone tells the lie and believes it.” This reveals the extent of the psychological and moral pressures the player and his family faced.
He went further, confirming that members of Zamalek’s board of directors “activated electronic committees against me during the contract renewal and launched campaigns,” knowing well that a player cannot respond to or confront what is happening.
False Figures and Comparison to the Previous Generation: “By God, I did not ask for 100 million”
Zizo refuted claims of exaggerated financial demands during his contract renewal. He categorically denied: “By God, I did not ask for 100 million from Zamalek at the time of renewal.” He pointed out that some in the management went to the media to claim that he asked for more than 60 million pounds, even though another meeting had been scheduled, asking: “Is this normal to happen? The words were one thing, and they would say Zizo is a legend, but the action was something else.” This confirms a contradiction between public statements and actual treatment.
In a striking comparison, Zizo mentioned Zamalek’s distinguished generation in 2019, and how each player left the club when they had the opportunity, wondering why the club is now “calling them back again, even though they left you and each one went to a club, and you want them back again and none of them want to return.” This comparison highlights what Zizo perceives as a contradiction in the policies of dealing with players.
The Earthquake Deal Unveils Its Secrets
Zizo’s statements on “Fayek’s Coffee” were not just an ordinary interview, but a frank and controversial revelation of the difficult circumstances surrounding his departure. The player, who described himself as “working diligently and in silence” for six years, came out to lift the veil on administrative pressures, smear campaigns, and financial offers that were handled in a non-transparent manner, raising many questions about Zamalek Club’s crisis management methods. These statements will undoubtedly spark a wide debate about the relationship between big clubs and their stars in Egyptian football.
